There was a knock at the door and Joshua’s blood pressure rose immediately. He looked over the room for the third time since he had finished getting it ready. Everything was perfect. He took a deep breath. The knocking sounded again, this time louder.
He scurried for the doorknob. “Hi! Come right in!” he said as the open door revealed the sight of a blue-eyed redhead, brimming with innocence.
“Hi!” she replied with a smile. She stepped forward and entered as he shut the door. “You have a beautiful home. If I lived here I’d never leave!” she quipped.
“Thanks. Sometimes I am tempted to spend too much time indoors,” said Joshua with a chuckle. “Although, if I had stayed home last Friday night, my Mercedes would still be intact.”
“Joshua,” she began, looking up at him earnestly. “I am soooo sorry about that! I promise you I will never text and drive ever again. And I am so grateful for you picking up my shop tab and for not getting the insurance companies involved.”
Joshua smiled and squeezed her shoulder. “It’s ok Jessica, I was only teasing. I think our arrangement will even things out quite nicely. Are you still ok with it?”
